Three-Peat: Sled Crowned World Champions in Porto Cervo

Third time really is the charm. Takashi Okura’s Sled team clinched the Rolex TP52 World Championship in Porto Cervo — their third straight win at the venue and third straight regatta win of the season.

Facing the toughest fleet yet, 15 boats from 11 nations, Sled pushed hard on the start line of the decisive final race and never let their rivals back in. Sweden’s Trinity Racing — in only their second-ever TP52 regatta — stormed through to win the race itself and snatch second overall, but it wasn’t enough to stop Sled taking the title by two points.

It’s Sled’s second world title, following their 2021 win in Palma, achieved this time by out-thinking a fleet of evenly matched crews across five tight days of light-wind racing. Germany’s Platoon Aviation rounded out the podium in third, while pre-race leaders Alpha Plus slipped to fourth in a heartbreaker finish. 52superseries

Next up: Lanzarote, where the fleet arrives for back-to-back regattas in July and August.
